RAD DX & GX Series (Standard Series)

These series form the backbone of pneumatic flange fittings and are characterized by an extremely robust cast aluminum housing. They cover a wide range from 50 Nm to 15,000 Nm.

Within these series, a distinction is made between two transmission variants:

  • Single Speed (Standard): These have a fixed, single-stage planetary gear system. They offer the best power-to-weight ratio and are the most robust tools for tough everyday use. [ 1 , 2 ]

  • 2-SPEED (Automatic Transmission): Identified by a "-2" in the model name (e.g., 20 DX-2). These models feature a fully automatic 2-speed transmission. Long thread paths are rapidly turned at high speed (up to 80 rpm) (run-down) before the tool automatically shifts to power mode upon encountering resistance, without any manual shifting required.

  • ATEX optionally available

The CP66 product series:

Pneumatic high-torque screwdrivers (nutrunners)

If you are looking for precise, continuously rotating machines with a torque support (similar to the RAD DX/GX series), the CP66 product series from Chicago Pneumatic is the right choice.

Operating principle: These tools utilize a powerful planetary gear system and operate without vibration or recoil according to the stall principle.

They stop precisely when the set air pressure is reached.

Performance: The series delivers a maximum tightening torque of up to 4,100 Nm. Durability:

The gearbox is extremely robust and certified for at least 13,000 screwdriving cycles under the harshest conditions (e.g., oil and gas industry, power generation). System structure:

The screwdrivers are usually supplied as a set with an industrial maintenance unit (ATC) which has a digital manometer to precisely control the air pressure and thus the torque.

Overview of the most important types of screwdrivers

Pneumatic impact wrenches:

CP's best-known tools for tire and automotive service as well as industrial maintenance. They operate with a pulsating impact mechanism to generate extremely high loosening torques.

Pneumatic screwdrivers & high-torque screwdrivers (Nutrunners): This category includes the CP66 series mentioned earlier, as well as the CP7600 series. They build up torque continuously, precisely, and with low vibration, without an impact mechanism.

Pneumatic ratchet wrenches:

Compact angle ratchet screwdrivers (e.g. CP7830 series), ideal for tight, hard-to-reach places in the engine compartment.

Pneumatic screwdrivers:

Pistol-grip screwdrivers (e.g. CP780 or CP2780 with slip clutch) for quick assembly work in wood, PVC or sheet metal.

Well-known top models in the automotive and trade sectors

Chicago Pneumatic CP7748 (1/2" impact wrench): The absolute bestseller for tire changes. It delivers up to 1,300 Nm of loosening torque, weighs only 2.0 kg, and features a cold-insulating composite housing and a robust twin-hammer impact mechanism.

Chicago Pneumatic CP7732 (1/2" Ultra-Compact): An extremely short mini impact wrench. Despite its small body length, it offers enormous power for extremely tight installation spaces.

Chicago Pneumatic CP7741 (1/2" Allrounder): The modernized generation for vehicle service. It offers 7% more power with 15% less weight compared to older series.
